Solo Dolphin Fishing 7/30/2022

I was determined to do some real fishing on my boat. I NEED a new hobby. I made a trip to El Capitan and bought myself 2x Penn Squall 50LD rods, some 30lb line, 60lb leaders, a few artificial baits and 2 packs of rigged ballyhoo. I then set out early Saturday morning against the advise of family and my inner conscience due to some pretty ripping winds, no regrets. It was a gorgeous, sunny, very breezy day but the thrill of being out there melted all my concerns away. I could’ve stayed the entire day out there. Unfortunately I didnt catch any legal sized mahi but I did manage to catch a lone 16 incher and that alone was worth all the effort.

NOTE: Forecast was stating 15mph winds with 25mph gusts, and this was on a 21ft bay boat.

After the trip I did head back to pick up the wife and kids for a sandbar day where I was able to catch this qualified captain.
